The Original Civile's in Kenilworth burned down years ago, but the ashes sewed new partnerships and a golden opportunity. In 2012, a new home was found in Metuchen, NJ, where owners Jason, Jimmy and Juan collaborated to pair traditional Italian cuisine with a casual atmosphere. Locals responded well to the cozy location, friendly staff and rich food, and have kept coming back since. Now, with deep ties to the community and an extended family of regulars, we're here to stay!

At Civile Cucina Italiana, we are extremely proud of our reputation and we consistently work towards improving it.

Opening in July of 2012, Civile È Tornato, the translation meaning "Civile's has returned," was immediately a success. Eventually, the former location's capacity was not enough for our maximum potential volume, thus we chose to move our establishment across Metuchen, into a larger building. We opened Civile Cucina Italiana on Main Street in August of 2014, and since then we have enjoyed a steady increase in customer volume, bringing our love for the kitchen to more and more people every day.

As an Italian restaurant, many ask where our inspiration comes from for our menu items. Most dishes are Italian-American brought by Italian immigrants almost a century ago, typically from the regions of Campania, Calabria, and Sicilia. Some dishes are traditionally prepared, like our Orecchiette alla Barese, served with Broccoli Rabe, identical to how the Pugliesi prepare their Orecchiette.

We hope to see you dine with us, for every customer is treated like family.
